WebAdvisor for Faculty
WebAdvisor is a web-based interface that allows access to information contained in the administrative database used by The Institute of World Politics. This online tool allows faculty to access course schedules, rosters, and student contact information. Faculty may also use WebAdvisor to communicate with some or all of their students via email, and submit grades online. Students use WebAdvisor to register for classes, view grades, class schedules, and financial information.

Before you access WebAdvisor, please read and understand the following information:
- Both Username and Password are case-sensitive.
- Occasionally you will be prompted to change your password for security reasons. When doing so you must use the same username that was originally issued to you.
- Don't share your Username and Password with ANYONE.
- Don't use your browser's Back icon to navigate; instead use WebAdvisor's Menu options.
- Don't forget to Logout to prevent someone using the same computer after you access to your account.

WebAdvisor is a direct web interface with the Institute's administrative information system. It allows students to register online and provides access, for students and faculty, to additional information.
Search for classes
Individual class schedules
All current students at IWP have access to WebAdvisor, and may access their personal records. Students have access for WebAdvisor for six months after separating from the Institute (i.e. graduation or any other separation from the Institute). Full-time and Adjunct faculty have access to WebAdvisor, and may access their individual course related records.
Access to WebAdvisor is strictly controlled to protect your privacy and the security of the information on IWP's administrative database. Each time you access WebAdvisor you will need your User Name and your Password.
To log in to WebAdvisor you must have:
- User ID - Last name, First initial e.g. doej
- Password (Your initial password is the last six digits of your SSN) ; You are strongly encouraged to enter a password hint in case you forget your password in the future.
If you have forgotten your WebAdvisor password you can either use your password hint or reset your password (if you have an email address on file). This is a quick and easy process. Please go through the following steps to reset your password:
Go to WebAdvisor
At the bottom on the right side of the screen, click "What's my password"
Click on "I don't remember, reset my password"
Fill in personal information and click "Submit"
If you have reset your password through "What's my password" and "Reset my Password" in WebAdvisor and do not receive an email with your password within 24 hours, please contact the Registrar's Office at (202)462-2101 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
WebAdvisor will operate most effectively with Mozilla Firefox on Windows (PC). For Macintosh users Mozilla and Apple Safari works best. For best results, your browser should be version 5.x or newer.
You can access WebAdvisor from any location with Internet access.
The information on WebAdvisor is the most current data available, since WebAdvisor is interacting directly with the Institute's administrative information system. Data is available immediately as it is entered or updated.
Without your User Name and Password, no one can view your information. You should protect your information by selecting the "Log Out" option when you are finished using WebAdvisor.

Your students will be able to view their grades as of midnight the day grades are due. The deadline for faculty to submit grades is 7 days after the last day of the semester by 11:30pm.
That student was not officially enrolled in your class and was also missing on your previous class rosters. Confirm your students' enrollment in your class early and often on WebAdvisor. If a student is not on your roster, they should not be sitting in on your class. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW UNENROLLED STUDENTS TO CONTINUE TO ATTEND YOUR CLASS. Please direct the student to the Registrar's Office.
A "W" grade is assigned only by the registration process when a student officially drops a class after the add/drop period. Entering a "W" in WebAdvisor will prevent the grading page from successfully submitting and will prompt an error message.
Enter a grade for every student on your roster. If the student never attended, check the box in the Never Attended column and assign them a grade of "F". The Registrar will follow-up with the student to find out why they never attended. If you do not submit a grade, the Registrar's Office will enter a grade of "F" for that student.
