IWP Professor Juliana Geran Pilon spent much of her summer in Prague, lecturing on the concept of American exceptionalism and its implications for strategic communication, as part of a course taught by her husband, Dr. Roger Pilon, on "American Exceptionalism as Constitutionalism."  A distillation of Dr. Juliana Pilon’s research and analysis of this subject has been published recently by the Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs.  (To download it in PDF form, please click on “PDF” at the upper right of this news story.) 

Sponsored by the Fund for American Studies, the course targeted a group of over 140 students from the former Soviet Bloc, with 25 countries represented.  Dr. Roger Pilon, the B. Kenneth Simon Chair in Constitutional Studies, is Vice President for Legal Affairs and Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute. 

While in Prague, Dr. Juliana Pilon addressed the staff and president of Radio Free Europe about recent legislation on strategic communication.  She and her husband also had the privilege of being hosted by the President of the Czech Republic, Dr. Vaclav Klaus, at his summer palace, the Lany Chateau, for a substantive discussion about the future of the European Union.
