Catholic University presents award to Amb. Thomas Melady

On Monday, March 14, The Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies at The Catholic University of America presented IWP Professor Thomas P. Melady with the first-ever Bishop John Keane Medallion.    

Bishop Keane was the first rector of Catholic University, and was instrumental in locating the university in Washington.  The Medallion was crafted to honor individuals for lifetime service reflecting the vision of the Institute.  Its Latin inscription reads: Academia, Patria, Ecclesia.

Amb. Melady is the former president of Sacred Heart University, and former ambassador to the Holy See, Burundi and Uganda.  He is IWP's Senior Diplomat in Residence, where he teaches The Art of Diplomacy, The Contemporary Balkans, and U.S.-African Relations.
