European history expert leads interns on tour of Holocaust Museum

Washington, D.C., June 28, 2013 - European History expert Dr. Marek Chodakiewicz led a group of IWP summer interns on a tour of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Dr. Chodakiewicz supplied additional information about the museum exhibits, including stories that have not been told in the public sphere.  He discussed the Nazi perception of homosexuals and told the story of Mussolini's protection of Jews in Italy.

The interns were also led through a timely exhibit on the Darfur Crisis and relations between North and South Sudan, which showed the roots of tension and recent developments. The serious and thought-provoking exhibits warned of unchecked power, blind faith in government, and an unwillingness to react to human-made catastrophes.
