New Students, Fall 2017

This fall, The Institute of World Politics was pleased to welcome 52 new students to campus. 42 students joined the Master of Arts program, 9 will be working towards receiving Certificates of Graduate Study, and one joined the Continuing Education program.

The incoming class includes recent college graduates, intelligence and diplomatic community professionals, a Fulbright scholar, an Air Force officer, and a Marine. In addition to the United States, we have new students from Spain, Germany, Poland, Japan, and South Korea. They have ambitions to work in counterterrorism, humanitarian development, and law enforcement, among other things.

Several of IWP's new students come from schools with which IWP has recently partnered, including Mercyhurst University and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Others are the recipients of a new scholarship at IWP -- the Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Wos Family Foundation Scholarship.

This semester, 146 students are enrolled at IWP -- a 22% increase in the student body from last fall, and record enrollment for the school. Meanwhile, the number of credit hours per semester has increased 26% from fall 2016.
