Linda Strating named VP for professional affiliations

Linda Strating, longtime director for professional affiliations and external programs, has been promoted to a Vice President of IWP.
She will have an expanded portfolio, retaining her responsibilities for expanding IWP's professional affiliations and recruitment of mid-career professionals, and related external programs. She will also be the main liaison with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the entity that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in Middle States region.
"Linda has been instrumental in cementing IWP's relationships with the U.S. military and other key elements of the national security community, and we're thrilled that she is taking on added roles here at the Institute," said President John Lenczowski. "She has earned the confidence of our nation's military leadership, and her promotion at the Institute doesn't come a moment too soon."
The appointment comes at a time when IWP is reorganizing the way it recruits students and carries out its educational mission. IWP's focus for nearly two decades had been on providing graduate education to mid-career professionals, but a tactical shift in recruitment saw an influx of students fresh out of college at the expense of those in mid-career. The Institute values a more balanced combination of both types of graduate students, and has abolished its Office of Student Recruitment as part of a strategic shift in how the school attracts and retains its graduate student body.
Colin Parks, the director of student recruitment at IWP, has moved on as graduate student recruitment undergoes a transformation under the leadership of IWP alumnus Tim Stebbins and a team of faculty and staff.
