Open Houses

IWP cordially welcomes you to attend one of our open houses. These events are excellent opportunities to meet some of our professors and students, as well as learn more about the Institute's unique programs and courses.  Additionally, the $100 Application for Admission fee will be waived if you attend an open house.

All open houses begin with a reception and hors d'oeuvres; the information program follows about 45 minutes later.

The next open house will be held on:

Schedule an informational sessionSchedule an informational session

If you are not able to attend one of our Open Houses and would like to speak directly with an IWP representative, you can schedule an informational session with one of our recruitment officers. During your visit, you will be able to tour our buildings, see our library, and ask questions about the programs and admissions process. You can also complement your session with a class visit, depending on your interests. Please contact info@iwp.edu or (202) 462-2101.

Class with Dr. Waller at IWPSit in on a class

The best way to get a sense of what IWP classes are like is to experience one firsthand. Visiting a class gives you the opportunity to speak with our professors and current students. You will see how our small, seminar-style classes foster discussion and debate, and how faculty members weave their professional experiences into their teaching. Most classes last three hours and take place in the evening. See our Fall 2012 Course Schedule to determine which class you would like to attend. To attend a class, please contact info@iwp.edu or (202) 462-2101.

Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Terrorism has been well-defined as "the deliberate and systematic murder, maiming, and menacing of the innocent to inspire fear for political ends."  Our study of "Terrorism" dwells on current source materials, questions and challenges—from the newly-relevant Charter of Hamas to emergent terrorism and insurgency among the Baluch people of Pakistan to the question of why the Basque ETA has just suspended all militant actions.
