Tuition
The Institute of World Politics charges tuition by the number of credit hours pursued each semester. Therefore, students are free to pursue as many or as few classes per semester as their schedules permit without encountering a financial penalty.

Tuition rates for the in-person M.A. and Certificate Programs
$1,300 per credit hour
$5,200 per four-credit course
$2,600 per two-credit course
For a Master’s degree with 52 credits, total tuition would be $67,600 ($33,800 per year for two years).

For an online Professional M.A. with 36 credits, total tuition would be $23,400.

Tuition Discounts
IWP offers a reduced tuition rate of $1,100 (vs. $1,300) per credit hour for the following individuals. The reduced tuition applies to online programs as well, in the form of a $500 (vs. $650) tuition rate. These discounts are applicable for those enrolled in both full-time and part-time status.
- Civilian personnel directly employed by the U.S. Federal Government in full-time status (excepting personnel employed as interns).
- Sworn or civilian law enforcement individuals
- Active-duty military service members
- Military spouses/partners who can provide IWP with their Military Dependent ID
These tuition discounts apply to all IWP programs except the Doctor of Statecraft and National Security program.
Alumni from certain partner colleges and universities and employees at certain partner organizations may also receive tuition discounts. These partners include Ashland University, Assumption College, Baylor University, Benedictine College, Drake University, Duke University, Elon University, GAP Solutions, Mercyhurst University, Patrick Henry College, Point Park University, U.S. State Department, University of Dallas, University of Mississippi, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Utah Valley University, and Villanova University.
Additional Fees
Student Services Fee
(mandatory for all students in all programs)
- Students in in-person programs, Fall and Spring Semesters: $200.00
- Students in in-person programs, Summer Semesters: $100.00
- Students in online programs, all semesters: $100.00
Matriculation Fee
All students admitted to the Institute (regardless of program) must pay a non-refundable $600 matriculation fee to secure their admission. This fee is due upon acceptance of admission and is credited toward the first semester’s tuition balance.
Late Registration Fee
The fee for registering after the first day of class is $500 for M.A. students and $100 for others.
Technology Fee
$100 per semester, students in online programs only
