A valuable Master’s degree with reasonable tuition
Students who choose to pursue graduate studies at IWP do so with the goal of becoming integrated strategic thinkers. They seek to learn all the arts of statecraft and how best to coordinate them in the formulation of effective policy.
At IWP, students are exposed to one of the most intensive, practical and yet inexpensive M.A. programs available in Washington, D.C. on a per hour basis.
Specifically, IWP is very competitive when considered from the perspective of cost per hour of instruction:
Why is our cost so low? IWP does everything in its power to mitigate costs to its students without sacrificing any of the quality of our faculty, curriculum, or library resources.
For instance, at IWP, your tuition is not going towards the upkeep of a gym, pool, sports program, or other expensive programs that are unrelated to your graduate studies and career development. In fact, the student activity fee is $500 for the whole year, if you attend during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. In addition, IWP has a tremendous group of financial supporters who believe in our mission and contribute a significant portion of our budget.
On top of this comparatively low tuition, about 80% of our M.A. candidates typically receive merit-based scholarships.
Time well spent: More classroom hours and smaller class sizes
In pursuing one of IWP’s main three Master’s degrees, you will complete 52 credit hours of coursework, which translates to 588 total hours of instruction.
Does it matter how many hours students spend in the classroom? We would argue that it does.
At IWP, classroom time is quality time. Students spend their classes with our faculty of scholar-practitioners — instructors who have actually done or are doing what they teach.
Our small class sizes (student-faculty ratio of approximately 6:1) allow for productive group discussions, in addition to regular classroom lectures. This intensive instruction in the classroom and opportunity for individual attention helps students become knowledgeable about all the arts of statecraft, as well as the topics that are more immediately relevant to their careers.
