IWP professor represents US at Guatemala inauguration

President George W. Bush appointed IWP Professor Alberto Piedra to join Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Florida Governor Bob Martinez as one of his representatives at the January 14 inauguration of Guatemalan President Oscar Berger.


Dr. Piedra, a Professor of Political Economy, served as US Ambassador to Guatemala under President Ronald Reagan. His courses include Democracy Building and Foreign Policy: Political and Economic Principles of a Free Society and Western Moral Tradition and American Foreign Policy. Prior to teaching at IWP, he was was Chairman of the Department of Economics and Business at the Catholic University of America.
