Prisons as terrorist breeding grounds: IWP professor contributes to study

Dr. J. Michael Waller, IWP’s Walter and Leonore Annenberg Professor of International Communication, has been invited to contribute to a three-volume international study on terrorists.

The publication, entitled The Making of a Terrorist: Recruitment, Training, and Root Causes, is edited by Dr. James JF Forest, an assistant professor at the US Military Academy and Director of Terrorism Studies at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center.

Dr. Waller will write a chapter for Volume 1, entitled “Prisons as Terrorist Breeding Grounds.” He testified on the subject as an expert witness before a Senate panel on terrorism and homeland security in 2003.

The three-book set will be published by Praeger in 2005. For more on this publication see teachingterror.com. For more on the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, please see http://ctc.usma.edu.
