All encouraged to compete in ‘Principles of War’ essay contest

Students, faculty and others are encouraged to compete in the “Principles of War Essay Contest,” cosponsored by the US Naval Institute, Johns Hopkins University, and Royal Uniformed Services Institute working in partnership with National Defense University, Army War College, Air Force War College, Naval War College, Office of Force Transformation, and the Department of Defense.

The topic: “Leaders at the highest levels now speak of a ‘new kind of war.’ This development should spark a debate: Have the principles of war changed? How are they changing? Or do they remain valid?”

First prize is $15,000. Deadline is February 1, 2005.
