President George W. Bush intends to appoint IWP Professor Marek Chodakiewicz to the US Holocaust Memorial Council.
The White House made the announcement on April 15, 2005.
A research professor of history, Dr. Chodakiewicz is a specialist on the Holocaust in Poland, as well as the post-World War II Soviet colonization of Poland and conflict between Jews and Poles. His books include Between Nazis and Soviets: Occupation Politics in Poland, 1939-1947 (2004) and After the Holocaust: Polish-Jewish Conflict in the Wake of World War Two (2003).
The US Holocaust Memorial Council post expires in January, 2010.
