Ambassador Curtin Winsor, Jr. and his wife, Ann, invited IWP students Amleset Kidane, Jerry Jamula, Melody McGee, and Mallorie Lewis as his guests at Africare’s annual Bishop T. Walker Memorial Dinner on Thursday evening, October 13.
African heads of state, ministers of commerce and foreign affairs, leaders from the African Union and the United Nations, senior U.S. government officials, diplomats, corporate executives, leaders of national organizations and private individuals were among the large number of guests.
The event, held at the Washington Hilton, marked Africare’s 35th anniversary and honored former Secretary of State Colin Powell with the 2005 Bishop John T. Walker Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award. Africare is the largest private fundraiser of aid to Africa.
