American Statecraft Program Commences

The Institute of World Politics, in conjunction with the Maibach Foundation, is pleased to announce the start of a new lecture series beginning this fall: the American Statecraft Program. This program, designed to enrich the study of statecraft at the Institute of World Politics, will run through 2007.

The first lecture took place Monday, October 24, 2005. Dr. Christopher Harmon, an IWP adjunct professor and the new Kim T. Anderson Chair of Insurgency and Terrorism at the Marine Corps University in Quantico, VA, spoke on “Churchill and the March to World War II.” As part of his remarks, Dr. Harmon discussed Winston Churchill and his relationship with FDR during the war years.

The second lecture was held on Monday, November 14, 2005. Dr. Derek Leebaert, professor of government at Georgetown University, based his discussion on the Cold War largely upon his book, The 50 Year Wound.
