On June 8, The Institute of World Politics celebrated its fifth annual Commencement by awarding 23 Master’s degrees and 3 Certificates of Graduate Study. The Class of 2007 is the IWP’s largest to date.
The Institute also awarded Doctors of Laws Honoris Causa to Dr. Kathryn Davis and Dr. James Gallagher. Dr. Davis, a distinguished scholar, philanthropist, and public servant who has dedicated her life to the cause of peace, has been a longtime friend and benefactor of the Institute. Dr. Gallagher, a nationally-respected educator and the featured speaker for the ceremony, is the President of Philadelphia University.
Other participants in the ceremony included Owen T. Smith, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Ambassador Faith Whittlesey, Trustee and former U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland; Dr. John Lenczowski, founder and president of IWP; and Dr. Marek J. Chodakiewicz, Academic Dean.
The ceremony and reception were held at The Army and Navy Club of Washington, D.C.
