The US Army War College recommends books by two IWP professors in its most recent bibliography on irregular warfare. The books are:
- Dr John Tierney‘s Chasing Ghosts: Unconventional Warfare in American History (Potomac, 2006), and
- Dr J Michael Waller‘s Fighting the War of Ideas like a Real War (IWP Press, 2007).
The Army War College’s bibliographies can be accessed here: http://www.carlisle.army.mil/library/bibliographies.htm.
Both books have won critical acclaim in their fields. “John Tierney has made a singular contribution to U. S. military history,” says Andrew J. Bacevich, author of The New American Militarism: How Americans are Seduced by War.
Army magazine says, “Tierney rises above a tactical examination and explains unconventional warfare on a strategic level, which includes politicians and populations.”
Armed Forces Journal says of Waller’s book, “this guide offers ways that could discredit, divide and ultimately squelch the enemy into a blob of irrelevance.”
“For those who find themselves in a position . . . to influence our image among allies and adversaries, this book [Fighting the War of Ideas like a Real War] should be placed at the top of their must-read list,” says the US Naval Institute’s Proceedings magazine.
