Prof. Joseph Wood commented on Vatican-Israeli relations in a recent article in the National Catholic Register. The article, which mentioned Pope Francis’ recent visit to the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site, discussed the pope’s outreach to Jews and Muslims.
Prof. Wood noted that “long-standing diplomatic tension between the Holy See and Israel” exists, and commented on the effect of Pope Francis’ gesture of laying a wreath at the grave of Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism.
