On March 18, 2016, IWP alumnus Peter Tase held a very successful Paraguay Economic Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Peter founded this initiative in 2012.
The main objective of this year’s forum was to serve as a platform for negotiations between the government of the Republic of Turkey and the cattle growers and beef exporters in Paraguay. This objective was achieved when a working meeting was held on March 17 leading up to the forum with the Consul General of The Republic of Turkey in Chicago, the Hon. Umut Acar; the Chancellor of National University of the East in Paraguay, Prof. Ing. Geronimo Laviosa Gonzalez; High Representative of the Rural Association of Paraguay, Prof. Ing. Rodolfo Grau Brizuela; and Director General of International Affairs, National University of the East, Mr. Rolando Segovia Paez.
On July 13, the Ambassador of Turkey to Argentina, Mr. Taner Karakaş, hosted a follow up meeting in Asuncion with Ing. Rodolfo Grau Brizuela to finalize the details of the first export of high quality beef from Paraguay to Turkish markets.
In addition to this notable success, the team of the Forum presented the Outstanding Leadership Award to Chancellor Laviosa. Each year, the award is presented to select distinguished public servants from Paraguay and abroad.
Peter is already looking forward to the Fifth Annual Paraguay Economic Forum slated to take place in June 2017.
