Ashes and DiamondsOn Friday, September 25, at 12:00 PM, the Kościuszko Chair of Polish Studies will host its annual Gen. Walter Jajko Kościuszko Chair Military Lecture.

This year’s event will be grounded in the context of the anti-communist insurgency in Poland in the wake of the Second World War, which was a continuation of the wartime struggle waged by the Polish underground resistance against the two totalitarian invaders: the Nazi Germans and the Soviet Communists.

Dr. Chodakiewicz will specifically focus on anti-insurgent communist deception and propaganda, an example of which was Andrzej Wajda’s anti-Home-Army film Ashes and Diamonds (1958). The screening of the movie will follow the historical presentation.
