About Vangala Ram
Mr. Ram served in nine consecutive overseas diplomatic postings at Embassies and Consulates in five of the six Regional Bureaus at the U.S. Department of State as a Senior Foreign Service Officer (S/FSO).
Highlights include tours as Press Attaché in Amman, Jordan and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as Director of the Amerika Haus in Cologne, Germany. Mr. Ram served as both the Deputy Cultural Attaché and then, on a separate tour later, as the Senior Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Other assignments include tours as Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) in West Africa and as Senior Civilian Representative (SCR) in Afghanistan.
Mr. Ram has served as an Office Director in the Bureau of Political and Military Affairs and is a Desert Storm veteran, having served for over ten years on active duty as a Military Intelligence (MI) officer in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Ram has taught graduate school at IWP, American University, and Georgetown University, as well as the National Intelligence University (NIU) for over ten years. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the National Defense University (NDU) and has other graduate degrees from Boston University with Distinction, as well as the University of Oklahoma in Public Administration.
