Twelve interns from colleges and universities around the United States recently completed the IWP spring internship program. They worked on various topics including counterterrorism, cyber intelligence, emerging U.S. national security threats, and defense economics. Here, they reflect on their experience doing research, auditing courses, connecting with IWP faculty and staff, and growing professionally.
“My internship at IWP has been a great steppingstone into the national security field. Through my time interning, IWP Career Services and various staff members were always there to support me in my goals.”
“Being able to tour the Pentagon with IWP alumni has been one of my favorite moments, as it provided IWP interns with a small panel of current practitioners working at the Pentagon who were also IWP alumni. That opportunity wouldn’t have happened without a connection with IWP, where they value personal interactions with professionals in the field.”
“My tasks ranged from learning about alumni and fundraising databases, to managing and organizing high profile events, to developing marketing strategies for a professional institution. Everyday, the staff and students at IWP challenged me to take initiative and fostered an environment of creativity and innovation.”
