Fourteen interns from colleges and universities around the United States recently completed the IWP summer internship program. They worked on various topics including counterterrorism, cyber intelligence, energy security, and Chinese geopolitical strategy. Here, they reflect on their experience doing research, auditing courses, connecting with IWP faculty and staff, and growing professionally.
“IWP cares about its interns. It has created a robust internship program that provides opportunities for one-on-one engagement with alumni, class auditing, and a thought-provoking lecture lunch series with highly accomplished national security professionals.”
“I am excited to use what I have learned about national security, international affairs, and public diplomacy for the rest of my career.”
“Unlike other internships in which you are expected to help grow the company, IWP wanted to help me grow.”
“From meeting with alumni and career services to attending lectures taught by experts in their craft, this internship has broadened my horizons and shown me many
avenues of success.”
“Under the guidance of IWP president John Lenczowski, I was able to produce the same level of quality research on Chinese geopolitical strategy that I would have had I been working onsite.”
“My supervisors regularly asked if there were new skills that I wanted to develop, and they encouraged me to do tasks that piqued my interest. This has been an essential aspect of growing as a young professional.”
