Reflecting on my time as an Events and Communications Intern, I am beyond grateful to have ended up at The Institute of World Politics. My role has allowed me to dive deep into the world of event planning, where I have been directly involved in organizing important school events such as the President’s Dinner, ambassador events, and public lectures. Each event has been a unique learning opportunity, sharpening my skills in coordination, communication, and problem-solving.
One of the highlights of my internship was the 2024 Commencement, which I started helping with on the third day of my internship. The meticulous attention to detail required for this event was both challenging and rewarding; anything is possible with a fantastic team of interns. And it was obvious to me then—IWP graduates are destined to succeed!
This internship has provided ample opportunities to network and visit unique places around Washington, D.C., where IWP alumni work. It is incredibly pleasing to see such a close-knit community of professionals who remain connected and supportive of each other. These networking opportunities have allowed me to meet and learn from experienced professionals in various fields, gaining invaluable insights for my future career.
My two master’s-level courses deepened my understanding of the complex dynamics of global politics and complemented my hands-on experience at IWP. The theoretical knowledge and practical exposure have provided a well-rounded perspective essential for anyone aspiring to work in international affairs.
The work culture at IWP is truly unique. The environment here fosters growth, learning, and collaboration. Engaging with professionals and attending educational events has broadened my understanding of American political culture and diplomacy. IWP has been an incredible place to grow, not just as a professional but also as an individual. The supportive community and the wealth of knowledge shared have inspired me to strive for excellence in all my future endeavors.
