My summer experience at IWP was truly memorable.
With Dr. Anne Bradley, I researched the economic structure of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in the 90s. Not only did I learn a significant amount regarding the economies of terrorist organizations, but I utilized resources previously unknown to me such as the Library of Congress Archives and the Global Terrorism Index. This experience using open-source intelligence under the direction of a knowledgeable and kind mentor was only possible with IWP.
I also received incredible mentorship from Dr. Joshua Muravchik as I prepared to testify in front of Congress regarding antisemitism on college campuses. Professor Muravchik spoke with me at length about my ideas, edited my speech, and gave me valuable advice throughout the entire process. I was honored to work with such a brilliant and genuine professor.
My favorite experience during the summer was undoubtedly the NATO Summit. We learned about the evolving state of NATO from professionals at the Pentagon, the House of Representatives, and Foreign Policy Magazine. I also had a chance to network with these individuals before and between conferences. Also, the food was fantastic.
Most notable was the time I spent with my fellow interns. This program truly does an incredible job of bringing together students from different schools and backgrounds to form one, cohesive community. I thoroughly enjoyed our discussions, debates, and dinners together. It is safe to say that I learned as much from the other interns in this program as I did from the lectures and classes, and I will miss them dearly.
