My time at The Institute of World Politics was nothing short of amazing. The staff became mentors, my peers became friends, and my experiences led to future opportunities.
This summer, I had the pleasure of being an Events and Communications Intern under Svetlana Houle. Through our various forums, I was able to see how the intersection between events, communication, and leadership can come together to foster discussions around national security and diplomacy.
One of the most rewarding events I was a part of was IWP’s “Speed Networking.” IWP alumni returned to the school for the night to discuss their jobs with current students and interns. They offered advice on how to utilize IWP, start your career in D.C., build your resume, etc.
“Speed Networking” was one of my favorite events because I saw how close-knit the community at IWP was. IWP alumni came back to help the next generation — an amazing sight to see. All the graduates were employed in jobs they love — jobs where they could make a difference.
IWP has exceeded my expectations and has left a lasting impression on me. My experience has been outstanding, and it’s safe to say I will be back — whether that’s for graduate school or just to say “hi” when I’m in town.
