As an intern at the Center for Energy Security and Diplomacy, I was entrusted with various assignments in research, events, and logistics. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Sara Vakhshouri in planning events, trips, and social media management. I also had the opportunity to research the United States energy landscape and risks.

I enjoyed learning a new area of national security and integrating my research into negotiations and briefings. Energy is the basis of national security; without it, we are vulnerable to any threat that we hope to counter. While developing new technology, we have to meet the quickly increasing demand for energy and critical minerals, and I have enjoyed evaluating that aspect of national security. I hope to use it in my future work and to keep our nation safe.

I also loved participating in briefings and learning from professionals. I enjoyed challenging myself to think and learn on a deeper level quickly and effectively. Applying the skills and information to new situations and concepts has prepared me to make decisions for our future security. I know that my time at IWP has informed and shaped the next steps in my career and long-term goals.
