My time as an intern at The Institute of World Politics was nothing but a dream come true to work in our nation’s capital. As this was my first time working in D.C., I felt fortunate to learn and grow not only as a person, but also as a professional during an interesting period in our nation’s history. I learned from accomplished speakers and mentors, gaining exposure to the world of national security, as well as learning the skills necessary to become an analyst in intelligence and foreign affairs.
The Energy Security and Diplomacy program at IWP was a great learning experience, as not only did it allow me to work with leading figures in the industry, such as my department head, Dr. Sara Vakhshouri, but it also taught me the importance of researching and learning why energy is an essential resource in today’s society. This program allowed me to develop new skills and helped me adapt to situations that would change on a daily basis.
I am grateful to have been selected as an energy intern during this time and thank IWP for giving me the chance to contribute and grow alongside my fellow interns. I also want to thank Dr. Vakhshouri, Missy, Inna, and the rest of the IWP faculty and community for helping me succeed and give me the chance of a lifetime to work in a great atmosphere such as IWP. I truly enjoyed my time here.
