The Intermarium Lecture Series was launched in September 2011 by the Kosciuszko Chair of Polish Studies. The series is dedicated to the history, culture, and geopolitics of the Intermarium — i.e. the large Central and Eastern European region located between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas — which Dr. Marek Chodakiewicz, the current holder of the Kosciuszko Chair, has dubbed “the eastern borderlands of the West.”
Much of the historical background on the Intermarium was provided by Dr. Chodakiewicz in his monograph entitled Intermarium: The Land between the Black and Baltic Seas (Piscataway, NJ: Transaction Publishers, 2012).
This series is made possible in large part thanks to the support of Lady Blanka Rosenstiel and the American Institute of Polish Culture (AIPC), which established the Kosciuszko Chair of Polish Studies at IWP.
