On Saturday May 16th, Senior Vice President for Professional Affiliations Chris Glass and his wife Linda represented IWP at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Commencement and Commissioning at Kings Point, New York. The academy, in its 75th year, prepares students for maritime transport industry careers. In wartime, Merchant Marine ships deliver troops, supplies, and equipment overseas for U.S. forces and allies.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis delivered the commencement address and stressed preparedness and taking responsibility, saying the 191 graduates should "always know where your boots are" so they are ready when trouble looms. Secretary Mattis also spoke at IWP commencement on May 19.

Chris and Linda met with faculty and staff and attended the alumni association luncheon following the ceremony.

This visit represents a burgeoning partnership with the Merchant Marine Academy. IWP was pleased to host Midshipman Dean Williams for an internship in November 2017, and IWP is also hosting seven Midshipman interns from Kings Point this summer focusing on strategic and cyber intelligence projects.
