On September 13, The Institute of World Politics was honored to host a reception for the new Ambassador to the Holy See, Ken Hackett. Amb. Hackett was appointed by President Obama this summer, and previously had served as President of Catholic Relief Services for 18 years.
Thomas P. Melady, former Ambassador to the Vatican and Senior Diplomat in Residence at IWP, helped organize the reception. He comments that, “It was a pleasure to see that the Embassy of the United States to the Holy See that was established by President Reagan in 1984, regardless of the political background of US leadership, is still operating in the service of both governments.”
The Institute wishes Amb. Hackett well in his future endeavors at the Vatican.
