On December 6, 2018, Dr. Marek Chodakiewicz, Professor of History and holder of the Kościuszko Chair in Polish Studies at IWP, gave a lecture entitled “Suki w Zakone: A Criminal Key to Putin’s Russia.”
In this lecture, Dr. Chodakiewicz spoke about the impact the Bolshevik revolution had on the criminal underworld in the Soviet Union and how, in this post-Soviet World, Russia is still heavily influenced by the Bolshevik Revolution.
Dr. Chodakiewicz received his M.A., M.Phil, and Ph.D. in History at Columbia University. Dr. Chodakiewicz currently teaches courses at IWP on Russian Politics, Geography and Strategy, and Mass Murder Prevention in Failed and Failing States.
The lecture was sponsored by IWP’s Center for Intermarium Studies and the Kościuszko Chair, and was held in honor of the late IWP professor Robert W. Stephan.
The lecture was preceded by a Russian music performance on the prima/malaya domra by Charles Winkler. Mr. Winkler, a longtime friend and colleague of Prof. Robert Stephan, was a Department of Defense analyst for more than 30 years, specializing in Soviet, Russian, East European, and Middle Eastern matters, and threat analysis, in particular.
