Victor Ashe, US Ambassador to Poland, speaks at IWP

On Thursday, February 26th, the Hon. Victor Ashe, US Ambassador to Poland, addressed a standing-room-only group of students, faculty, and friends at The Institute of World Politics.  Ambassador Ashe, one of the longest-serving ambassadors in the US diplomatic community, addressed many questions of US relations with Poland, including matters related to Poland’s membership in the European Union and NATO.

The Ambassador, who was appointed to his post in 2004, also discussed the challenges of working with the strategically vital NATO member, the experience of ambassadorship, and the role played by public diplomacy during his tenure.

Even before his appointment as US Ambassador, the Hon. Mr. Ashe had extensive experience in building US-Polish relations.  In 2003, while serving as Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee, he arranged a sister-city relationship between Knoxville and Chelm in eastern Poland.
