Dr. Marek Jan Chodakiewicz, Academic Dean and Kosciuszko Professor of Polish Studies at The Institute of World Politics, has contributed an extensive scholarly introduction to a new collection of translated poems written by Polish prisoners of the Soviet gulag.
The work, entitled Polish Poetry from the Soviet Gulags: Recovering a Lost Literature, was edited by Halina Ablamowicz. According to the publisher, Edwin Mellen Press, "By translating a selection of poems written by Polish survivors [Ms. Ablamowicz] brings to English-speaking readers a riveting picture of the horror of the Siberian gulags."
