After concluding his five-year term serving as a Presidential appointee on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, IWP’s Dr. Marek Jan Chodakiewicz has been recognized for his services by the Council’s leadership.
The Council advises the U.S. Holocaust Museum on the commemoration of the Holocaust, as well as matters concerning genocide and genocide prevention today as they affect education and policy.
Dr. Chodakiewicz is shown holding his award, which was presented to him publicly at the Council meeting in April by Fred S. Zeidman, (the Council’s Chairman), Joel M. Geiderman (Vice Chairman), and Sara J. Bloomfield (Museum Director). The award reads as follows:
“Together we have worked to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and honor its victims and survivors. We have pledged to ensure that their legacy helps to confront hate, prevent genocide, promote human dignity, and strengthen democratic values. For your part in fulfilling this pledge as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, we thank you.”
