On Thursday, October 25, 2012, a group of family members, friends, students, faculty, and staff gathered at the Institute to celebrate the promotion of IWP student Kyle Ford to the rank of Major in the U.S. Army.
IWP President Dr. John Lenczowski offered an introduction, and IWP Army War College Fellow LTC Rick Ullian presented CPT(P) Ford with an award for his service and promoted him to the rank of Major. LTC Ullian then assisted Mrs. Sabrina Ford, Kyle’s wife, in the pinning ceremony. Kyle’s son then pinned his father’s cap. MAJ Ford presented flowers to his wife, who had supported him through years of service, and LTC Ullian presented each of them congratulations and related awards from the Army command.
During his remarks, MAJ Ford spoke to his young son, explaining that his work and that of his fellow service men and women aimed to protect freedoms for his generation and generations to come. MAJ Ford is attending IWP as part of his Army training and education in basic strategic arts; he plans to complete his M.A. in 2013.
