Prof. Paul Goble to testify on Islamist extremism in Chechnya

This Friday, Prof. Paul Goble will testify on Islamist extremism in Chechnya before the House Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats and the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade.  Dr. Craig Douglas Albert, professor at Georgia Regents University Augusta, will also testify.

Both suspects in the recent bombings at the Boston marathon–Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev–are of Chechen origin. Prof. Goble and Dr. Albert will discuss to what extent Islamic extremism in Chechnya may be a threat to U.S. homeland security.

This summer, Prof. Goble will lead a directed study on Islam and Geopolitics in Eurasia (IWP 604).
