Luis Rueda, a Senior Intelligence Officer with 28 years experience in the CIA’s Clandestine Service, will join the IWP faculty this fall to teach a new course on human intelligence.
“The Institute prides itself on bringing scholar-practitioners to our classrooms,” comments IWP founder and president John Lenczowski. “Our students will learn from Luis’ breadth and depth of experience in his field, and will be inspired by his dedication to the service of our country. We are delighted to welcome him to the faculty.”
Mr. Rueda has served domestically and abroad with numerous assignments in Latin America and the Middle East and senior management positions in Washington. He has given operational briefs to senior administration officials, including the President of the United States, and is an expert in the fields of Counterterrorism, and Counternarcotics.
Currently an independent contractor, Mr. Rueda has worked on counterintelligence issues with Centra Technology, directed intelligence collection and covert action activities with the National Clandestine Service (formerly known as the Directorate of Opeartions), and has served as Senior Visiting Professor for National Security Affairs, University of Miami.
He has received numerous awards from the CIA, including the Distinguished Intelligence Medal, four Exceptional Performance Awards, a Special Achievement Award, and a Directorate of Operations Manager of the Year Award. He has appeared as a guest commentator on PBS New Hour, MSNBC, British ITN, and Telemuno.
Mr. Rueda holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Fordham University and has completed the Federal Executive Fellowship Program at Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
