Alumnus Jim Dolbow authors The Coast Guardsman’s Manual, 10th Edition

The Coastguardsman's Manual, 10th EditionThe Naval Institute Press has released 10th Edition of The Coast Guardsman’s Manual, authored by Jim Dolbow, IWP Class of 2009.

This manual serves as the basic training manual for both enlisted personnel and officers, and contributes to the professional development of all Coast Guard personnel.

This tenth edition covers twenty-first century training and operations. The updated information offers discourse on a variety of subjects, including Coast Guard missions, organization, and history. The emphasis of the manual is placed on safety of life, protection of national assets, and defending the homeland.

Armed with a Master’s degree from IWP, Mr. Dolbow’s resume also boasts a Master’s in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Mr. Dolbow is a Life member of the U.S. Naval Institute, Navy League of the United States, Naval Historical Foundation, Reserve Officers Association, Military Officers Association, and the Naval War College Foundation. He has been published in Proceedings, National Defense, The Washington Post, Washington Times, Sea Power, Navy Times, Armed Forces Journal International, to name a few. Moreover, he has also lectured at Indiana University, National Defense University, and the Defense Acquisition University on the role of Congress in national defense. 

Currently, he is working as a Congressional legislative assistant, where he focuses on defense, homeland security and veterans.
