Interns experience Gettysburg with Professor Emeritus Charles Smith

On November 11, a group of interns from The Institute of World Politics made a trip to Gettysburg, where Professor Emeritus Charles Smith gave a tour during which he described the history surrounding the Battle of Gettysburg.

Prof. Smith, who taught the American Founding Principles class at the Institute before retiring in 2012, had made this trip with his class annually. “We are delighted that he continued this tradition this year with our interns,” says Michael Webber, Class of 2012, who also joined the tour.

Intern Pawel Pawlowski, who is visiting this semester from Poland, commented: “The trip was really a interesting experience for us. Professor Smith explained to us in a fascinating way the dramatic course of the battle of Gettysburg. He also helped us understand the significance of the Gettysburg Address in American political thought and practice.”
