IWP Army Fellow receives award for song lyrics

LTC Charmaine E. Betty-Singleton (USAR), an IWP Army Fellow, lawyer, and former Staff Judge Advocate of the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Buchanan Installation Legal Office, is also a talented songwriter.  Her lyrics for a praise and worship song recently won the Prayze Factor People’s Choice Award, which she accepted in Jamaica this past month.  Please click here to watch the video of her song.

At IWP, LTC Betty-Singleton’s research has focused on the relationship between civil liberties and national security.  She has specifically studied the role of the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover and examined whether the methods he used are currently warranted, given the nature of today’s threats to national security.  Her presentation of her research, which she gave in conjunction with her faculty mentor, Prof. Raymond J. Batvinis, can be found here.

In addition to her Army Fellowship at the Institute, LTC Betty-Singleton has been completing several academic courses.  This May, she will receive a Certificate of Graduate Study in Corporate Statecraft from IWP.
