IWP Chancellor Amb. R. James Woolsey was interviewed by Fox Business on Apple’s legal battle with the FBI.
With the threat of nuclear terrorism, should we be willing to give up our privacy? When asked this question by host Stuart Varney, Ambassador Woolsey discussed the distinction between security and privacy. In the past, Apple helped the FBI access people’s phone many times. However, the issue is not about the terrorist threats; it is about allowing the FBI to get into people’s cell phones on its own.
The hearing was scheduled to take place on March 1 on Capitol Hill, and both sides would testify. For the moment, according to Ambassador Woolsey, it is not a crystal clear issue on one side or the other.
