On Thursday, June 9th, Dr. Mackubin Owens and Prof. Paul A. Goble will participate in the 2016 Commemoration hosted by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. On a panel entitled “Educating Americans about the History of Communist Regimes,” Dr. Owens will discuss the necessity of educating young Americans on the threats of Communist regimes. The panel will begin at 3:00 PM.
Later in the evening, IWP Professor Paul A. Goble will speak at the Triumph of Liberty Reception and Dinner at 6:00 PM at the Hyatt Regency DC, where he will be awarded the 2016 Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
Dr. Owens is Dean of Academic Affairs and a Professor at IWP. He is a Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI), and editor of the FPRI’s quarterly journal, Orbis. He is also a recently retired US Naval War College Professor.
Paul A. Goble is a former Special Advisor to the Secretary of State and a Professor at IWP. He specializes in ethnic and religious questions in Eurasia. He is a former professor at University of Tartur (Estonia) and former Special Advisor to the Director at the International Broadcasting Bureau.
