Summer Interns 2017

This summer, 22 interns are completing the internship program at The Institute of World Politics. 


Pryce Albury

Pryce Albury

Pryce is a student at Norwich University, which is a military school in Vermont.  He is pursuing his bachelor’s in War and Peace Studies and has studied French and Chinese.  Pryce is taking Dr. Thomas’ class on Intelligence:  The Cold War and Beyond. Pryce is also interning for the U.S. Marshals.

Ross Babineau

Ross Babineau

Ross is a student at American University, majoring in International Relations with a focus on Middle East Peace and Conflict Reconciliation.  Ross is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting Course. Ross is conducting research for Prof. Muravchik.

Brianna Bishop

Brianna Bishop

Brianna is a student at the University of Alabama majoring in International Studies with a focus on Russia.  She is also studying Russian language.  Brianna is an Events and Communications Intern at IWP.

Abbey Bonin

Abbey Bonin

Abbey is a student at Mary Baldwin University majoring in Political Science.  She is taking Dr. Thomas’ course Intelligence: The Cold War and Beyond, and is also conducting research for Dr. Thomas.

Eric Calvo

Eric Calvo

Eric is a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is studying international relations and minoring in economic policy.  He is fluent in Spanish and is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting course this summer. Eric is conducting research for Dr. Thomas.

Shannon is a student at St. Lawrence University, where she is majoring in Global Studies focusing on the Middle East.  Shannon also studies Arabic and is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting course. Shannon is conducting counterterrorismism research this summer.

Ana Delgado

Ana is a student at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Political Science with a minor in Middle East and Islamic Studies.  Ana previously studied abroad in Germany.  This summer, she is taking Dr. Thomas’ class on Intelligence:  The Cold War and Beyond while also conducting counterterrorismism research.

Tristan DeWitt

Tristan DeWitt

Tristan is a rising junior at Liberty Unversity, where he is studying Information Systems.  Tristan is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting course.  He is conducting research for IWP’s Cyber Intelligence Initiative.

Brit Felsen-Parson

Brit Felsen-Parson

Brit studies at Columbia University and is double majoring in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies.  Brit previously served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) before her undergraduate studies. This summer, she is taking Dr. Thomas’ class on Intelligence: The Cold War and Beyond. Brit is conducting counterterrorism research.

Kirsten Hahn

Kirsten is a student at George Mason University majoring in Criminal Justice with a focus on Homeland Security.  Kirsten previously studied abroad in Jordan and is studying Arabic.  Kirsten is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting course and is conducting counterterrorism research.

 

Emily Hetz

Emily is a student at Point Park University studying Intelligence and National Security.  Emily also studies Russian and is taking Dr. Chodakiewicz’s Geography and Strategy course this summer. Emily is conducting research for Dr. Thomas.

William Hungerford

William Hungerford

William is a rising senior at Liberty University studying International Relations with a focus on Strategic Intelligence Studies.  He is a cadet in Army ROTC and is taking Dr. Owens’ American Founding Principles class.  William is conducting counterterrorism research.

Daniel Jellins

Daniel is a student at the University of Chicago.  He is studying Law and Society and has previously interned at the U.S. Congress.  At IWP, Daniel is conducting research for the Cyber Intelligence Initiative.

Jake is a student at Baldwin Wallace University, where he is majoring in National Security & Political Science.  Jake is taking Dr. Thomas’ course on Intelligence: The Cold War and Beyond and is conducting counterterrorism research this summer.

Daniel is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying International Relations.  Daniel can speak Spanish and is also studying Chinese. Daniel is taking Prof. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning and Budgeting course.  He is conducting research for Dr. Thomas.

Natalie is a rising senior at Mercyhurst University, where she is majoring in Intelligence Studies and Psychology.  She previously interned for the U.S. Coast Guard.  She is taking Dr. Schroeder’s Defense Strategy, Planning, and Budgeting course and is conducting counterterrorism research.

Nate is a student at Patrick Henry College, where he is studying History.  Nate is taking Dr. Thomas’ Intelligence: The Cold War and Beyond class. He is also conducting counterterrorism research.

William Pawlak

William Pawlak

William is a rising sophomore at Norwich University, where he is pursuing a BA in Studies in War and Peace.  William is currently in the Army ROTC.  William is taking classes with The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) in Washington this summer and is conducting research for Prof. Muravchik.

Cole Speidel

Cole Speidel

Cole is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in International Relations with a focus on Russia. Cole is conducting research for Dr. Thomas this summer.

Simon Zajicek

Simon Zajicek

Simon is a student at William Jewell College in Missouri, where he is studying International Relations.  He is from Prague and previously interned at the National Cyber Security Center for the Czech Republic.  Simon is taking classes with TFAS in Washington this summer and is conducting research for IWP’s Cyber Intelligence Initiative.
