Dr. Paul Gelpi joins the IWP adjunct faculty

This past spring, Dr. Paul Gelpi joined the adjunct faculty to teach IWP’s course on military strategy.

A U.S. historian with over 20 years’ worth of experience in higher education, Dr. Gelpi brings with him an expertise in U.S. military history, military strategy and theory, and aviation history and airpower theory. Dr. Gelpi has an upcoming book focusing on airpower titled, Creating a “Flexible Response:” General “Opie” Weyland and the Resurgence of Tactical Airpower. He has published articles, essays, encyclopedia entries, and scholarly reviews on U.S. and military history. He has also presented papers at numerous conferences both in the United States and abroad.

Dr. Gelpi is currently a Professor of Military History at the Command & Staff College, Marine Corps University. Throughout his career, he has held many other positions in higher education institutions, including Adjunct Senior Professional Lecturer in the School of International Service at American University, as well as a member of the adjunct faculty of the Command & Staff College Distance Education Program at Marine Corps University.
