Charles Chen joins Cyber Intelligence Initiative Advisory Board

Charles Chen HeadshotIWP is pleased to welcome Charles Chen, Director of Artificial Intelligence at the U.S. Department of State, to the Advisory Board of the Cyber Intelligence Initiative (Ci2).

This summer, Mr. Chen taught a course for Ci2 on “Enterprise Threat Modeling,” and his next seminar, entitled “Cyber Intelligence Professional,” will take place on October 7. Mr. Chen also teaches a course on “Technology Underpinning Cyber Intelligence,” which will next be offered on December 16.

Charles Chen is the Director of the Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technology Office for the State Department, under the guidance and directives of the Principal Deputy CIO & the CTO.  He leads a team of highly technical engineers and architects in developing leading-edge technologies and delivering innovative solutions to satisfy mission needs.

Originally from California, Charles has nearly 30 years of experience in I.T. infrastructure and cybersecurity and served for the federal government for the past 10 years.  He has founded an international telecommunications company, with specializations in global infrastructure, cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud computing, LoRaWAN IoT, and blockchain distributed computing.  Charles earned his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and his Master’s degree from Northwestern University.  He is a council member for the University of Washington Pacific Northwest Cybersecurity Leadership Council and possesses numerous I.T. certifications, including CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCNP, and MCSE.
