IWP is pleased to welcome Luanne D. Zurlo as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Ms. Zurlo is the Executive Director and General Partner of Seton Education Partners, where she leads the Brilla Charter School Network and the El Camino afterschool Catholic faith program in the Bronx. Prior to joining Seton, Luanne was an Assistant Professor at The Catholic University of America (CUA), teaching finance, Catholic Social Doctrine, and education reform in developing countries.
“Luanne is a great addition to our board,” said IWP Trustee Sean Fieler. “Her combination of non-profit savvy, academic rigor, and patriotism make her a perfect fit for our institute.”
Luanne spent the first decade of her career as a ranked Wall Street equity analyst with a focus on telecommunications and Latin America. After experiencing 9/11 firsthand, Luanne left Goldman Sachs to found and lead a non-profit organization, Educando, whose mission is to raise educational quality in Latin America, with a focus on Brazil and Mexico.
Luanne has an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Columbia Business School, an MA in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University SAIS and a BA in History from Dartmouth College. Luanne has lived, traveled and worked extensively in Latin America and Eastern and Western Europe. During her graduate studies, she served as a CIA graduate fellow intelligence analyst, with a Top Security clearance, focused on Hungary.
She spent a sabbatical studying theology at the Angelicum Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, Italy, and wrote the book, Piazzas, Popes & Pasta, about her experience. Her second book, Single for a Greater Purpose: A Hidden Joy in the Catholic Church, was published in December 2019.
Luanne is a founding board member of the GIVEN Institute and currently serves on the boards of Christendom College, Educando and The Institute of World Politics (IWP). Luanne lives in NYC and Falmouth, Maine.
