West Point Cadet Chloe Tran receives IWP cyber statecraft award

Captain Chris Glass, USN retired, IWP Executive Vice President, and Captain Dean Lane, USN retired, IWP’s Chief Information Officer and Cyber Intelligence Director, with Cadet Chloe Tran, U.S. Army, 2022 recipient of the United States Military Academy Class of 2022 Institute of World Politics Award For Excellence in Cyber Statecraft.

On Thursday, May 19, Captain Dean Lane, USN retired, IWP’s Chief Information Officer and Cyber Intelligence Director, and Captain Chris Glass, USN retired, IWP’s Executive Vice President, presented the annual United States Military Academy Institute of World Politics Award for Excellence in Cyber Statecraft to Cadet Chloe Tran, U.S. Army. The presentation was made during the Superintendent’s Awards for Excellence and Achievement Ceremony at the United States Military Academy at West Point, class of 2022 convocation.

Chloe majored in Military Science during her tenure at West Point and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant into the Intelligence Branch on Saturday, May 21st, 2022. In her final year as a Cadet, Chloe was the Brigade Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Activities Officer; Cadet in Charge of the Cyber Policy Team; and member of the West Point Marathon Team and the Vietnamese American Cadet Association (VACA). She hails from Fairfax, Virginia and has two siblings and two loving parents. She will be reporting to Fort Huachuca, Arizona home of the United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) and the United States Army Intelligence Center. Upon completion of Officers Intelligence School, she will be stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

On behalf of the faculty and staff at the Institute, we congratulate Cadet Tran on her outstanding Cyber Statecraft achievements and commissioning. You are now the tip of the spear. May prudence and tenacity continually guide your leadership responsibilities as you serve in the world’s greatest Army.

The award represents the enduring partnership between IWP’s Cyber Intelligence Initiative (Ci2) and the U.S. Army Cyber Institute. It is presented each year to the outstanding graduate who has demonstrated superior excellence and initiative in cyber statecraft studies while at West Point. Past recipients of this award are Brian Kim (2021),  Amanda Roper (2019), and Lexie Johnson (2018).
