Dr. Matthew Daniels attends launch of Andrew Young HBCU scholarship program

On October 28th, IWP professor Dr. Matthew Daniels celebrated the launch of the new Andrew Young HBCU scholarship program at an event at the Atlanta University Consortium library next to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s alma mater, Morehouse College. Dr. Daniels originated the idea for this scholarship.

This scholarship aims to support students who attend Black colleges and is funded by McGraw Hill Education, which publishes a human rights curriculum created in part by Dr. Daniels. This curriculum, entitled Civil Rights: A Global Perspective, teaches the ideas about human dignity promoted by Dr. King. The goal of the scholarship is related: to raise up a new generation of champions for Dr. King’s unifying, non-violent principles in an era of rising division and violence in our nation.

The launch event was held in conjunction with the Andrew Young Foundation and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and it received wide media coverage.
