On Thursday, May 18, a group of 12 students and faculty members from the United States Army War College, along with Colonel Jesús Ramirez of the Spanish Army, visited The Institute of World Politics for seminars on national security and international affairs.
The group, which has visited for the last several years, was led by Prof. Grace Stettenbauer of the Department of National Security and Strategy at the USAWC. IWP Executive Vice President Captain Chris Glass, USN (Ret.) welcomed the group to IWP.
During their visit, Dr. James Robbins, IWP Dean of Academics, and Dr. Amanda Won, Director of IWP’s China Asia Program, discussed various national security topics. Dr. Robbins lectured on the challenges of conflict termination scenarios for the war in Ukraine. Dr. Won lectured on Chinese and North Korean espionage.
This visit to IWP was part of the USAWC National Security Staff Ride, which is a foundational part of the strategic education curriculum in the 10-month USAWC program that prepares executive-level military, civilian, and international officers to assume strategic leadership positions throughout the military and government agencies. Many of the students who attended will become the generals, admirals, and senior executive service leaders of the future.
